Hike to the Jochkreuz and the Nederjoch

Starting point is Telfes at the beginning of the Stubai Valley, more precisely the district Plöven. This can be reached after 30 minutes by car from Innsbruck (Brennerautobahn A13 - exit Schönberg, through the Stubaital to Telfes), or comfortably by train and bus in about 55 minutes. In town always follow the road mountain value and park in a left turn on the mountain stream. There begins the signposting, which you follow to Pfarrachalm. It goes on a wide forest road, uphill into the forest. This is also signposted as a mountain bike route. After about 20 minutes there is the possibility on the Hirtensteig, which leads in narrow serpentines directly through the forest, ascend. He is much more attractive instead of the gravel road.

After a maximum of 1: 15h you reach the Pfarrachalm at 1740m. From the pasture, it goes up steeply to a turnoff on a scenic plateau. You cross the grassy south-west flank of the Nederjoch into the Sailenieder (1974m). Now you go right, following the wooden pegs, the ridge (northwest) up to the summit cross of the Nederjoch. Once at the top, a wonderful dining area with a view of the Stubai Valley awaits us. After a break for supper, we continue along the ridge towards Jochkreuz. At the beginning of May, there are still some steep snow fields that require good slip resistance at exposed points. On the right side you can see the Stubai and Wipptal valleys, on the left you soon get a nice view of Innsbruck and the Nordkette.

Shortly before the Jochkreuz there is the possibility to descend to the right down to the valley. To the left, however, the path is still completely covered in snow and so the course is not recognizable. At this time we continue on the Jockreuz and then descend again to the Pfarrachalm. Here, too, after half of the way, you have to choose between the wide fort (longer) or a narrow path that leads relatively horizontally to the Pfarrachalm. After 5.5 hours we finish at the Pfarrachalm and then descend the same way in 1 hour to Plöven.

Conclusion: a beautiful mountain tour with two peaks and already at the beginning of May with the refreshments on the Pfarrachalm.
