The SummitRocket 30 from Mountain Hardwear is an extremely light and very well thought-out alpine rucksack with 450g.

The first thing that comes to mind is the lid: it does not exist! There are only two zippers where the lid is usually. Access to the main compartment on the SummitRocket is "twisted", ie the access can be accessed via the zipper from the rear. This has enormous advantages at the stand. Because of this construction, you can hook the backpack on a carabiner and still comes close to the main compartment and the lid compartment. Simple, but cleverly solved, as befits an alpine climbing backpack. For hanging, there is of course an additional loop on the front, in addition to the usual loop on the back.

Simple and clever, I also find the removable compression straps. A very simple pull mechanism on both sides makes the backpack shrink so that it comes close to the back. If necessary, you can simply leave the straps out and use the full volume. Of course, there are pimple fixings that are equally removable, as well as horizontal daisy-chain loops at the front and vertical at the sides.

The carrying system basically consists of a collapsible plastic plate with a wave structure on the back, which of course is removable, and quite wide and thin shoulder straps. Chest strap and waist belt prevent slipping only, they are not good for load transfer. True to the motto "fast & light" it does not need that, according to Mountain Hardware, the backpack is anyway only up to about 10 kilograms loadable. Just a backpack for fast, alpine activities, where it's on mass and does not depend on comfort.

The workmanship is clean, the rather thin material has beaten so far and has returned unscathed by various tours.
