SKI GUIDE AUSTRIA 2015 - "A guide full of snow shows Austria's winter sports in all its varieties"
The Guide, the first and only ski resort guide with a complete overview of winter sports throughout Austria, will be appearing for the sixth time. You hardly believe it, but Austria has more than 300 resorts with lifts. The guide presents more than 200 ski resorts. There is a "deep snow special" for the freeriders among us and a focus has been placed on returning.
Content
The ski resorts are sorted by federal state and a large overview map of the whole of Austria shows the distribution and location of each area in the country. So you can quickly find a suitable area, which is accessible to you.
The areas are presented in part with practical piste panoramas, which give you a good first overview that I think is needed for any unknown area. These include details such as kilometers of slopes, reductions, freeride and tour areas as well as contact details. Here I do not have to click through every single website of the ski areas, but can draw all the important information from a book.
The new section on "deep snow" is very interesting not only for ski tourers, but also for freeriders. There is an illustrated reportage on the Dachstein crossing, as well as basic and additional knowledge about safety off the slopes.
In the category "Winter in Austria" the fun parkers, night skiers, returnees and cross-country skiers are addressed. For almost every winter sport there is something interesting to read.
The guide is also dedicated to safety and correct action in an emergency and how to prevent accidents. On four pages, instructions are given to fitness exercises, which then everyone can train well into the winter.
Last but not least, restaurants and ski huts are presented to stop in, so you know where to eat the best homemade Kaiserschmarren and where to sit by the fire. If you stay longer, you will find insider tips on castle hotels and manor houses, which are not luxury hotels but beautiful, up to 700-year-old walls. They stand for historic houses with a long history, in a noble ambience and usually very personally managed.
Conclusion
Visually and in terms of content a very successful manual, which gives everyone a good overview and, if desired, also detailed knowledge. And also the price of € 14.90 for the thick book with 434 pages plump content convinced. Since winter can come ....
