Ski Ascension Nylon STD by Black Diamond with easy handling and excellent gliding properties when walking.

The cropping

These skins still need to be cut by hand. To many touring skis, there are also suitable, already tailored to the perfect size skins. However, since I do not drive Black Diamond skis, I cut my furs suitably. It was really easy and fast. Black Diamond comes with a great little knife, which also has a stop, so you get a clean edge. I'm surprised how easy it was to cut, the knife slid like butter when it's running. I stuck to the instruction video: so that you cut the skins properly, there is a very helpful little video from the manufacturer Black Diamond, in which all steps are well explained. So do not be afraid of cutting, everyone gets that! The Video can be found under Extras on the manufacturer's homepage.

The climb

Here I was more than surprised, which enormous grip these nylon skins have even in very steep terrain. I did not slide back a millimeter on the whole tour. And even the forward gliding was very smooth, there was hardly any resistance felt on the feet. This is not only due to the good gliding of the material, but also the low weight of the skins.

Peel off and stick on

The removal of the skins from the ski and sticking to the supplied net work perfectly. Unfortunately there are no fastener clips with straps on these skins, so some snow accumulates under the end of the coat. That was on the tour but not disadvantageous. As a front attachment to the ski, a wire rope loop is attached to the fur, the length of which can be individually adjusted. For upcoming tours, I will, however, buy the attachment straps so that the skins do not lose their grip. The net to which the skins are attached for transport is included. In any case, you should always stick them to the net, otherwise the adhesive layer will be damaged and thus no longer have good adhesion. Store the skins always on the net and in its packing in the dark (never in direct sunlight). The packaging, a practical, breathable zippered bag, is also included.

Conclusion

Good and easy handling and convincing gliding properties while walking. You do not slide back a millimeter and you glide forward very easily and fluently. If you buy the rear attachment added, the attachment system of Black Diamond is here in my opinion perfect.
