After a few rainy, humid and cool tours here my assessment of the jacket: a fragile marvel of modern weather protection technology: the Millet Trilogy GTX.
domestic equipments
The Millet Trilogy jacket is made of the new, extremely breathable and waterproof Gore Tex Active Shell and comes without frills. Two side pockets, a breast pocket, underarm ventilation, well-cut hood with a very high collar, the shoulder area is reinforced. Minimalism cleanly processed - typically French.
technology
Impressive is the breathability of the ActiveShell: despite the effort and sweaty activities there is a great climate in the jacket. Even though you should not expect too many miracles from the breathable miracle membranes (waterproof is waterproof), ActiveShell convinced me quite a bit. Thanks to the three-layer processing, the jacket itself feels sweaty and not sticky to the skin. Currently this is the best membrane I have tried and used so far.
Only the really thin and sensitive material could be a problem in the long run. At the most sensitive point, the shoulder area, Millet Ceramic has installed to protect the very expensive Stöfflein from abrasion.
wearability
Overall, the jacket is quite small, but fits in the right size as a glove and offers thanks to special seam technology of the forearm, even in climbing enough freedom of movement.
The hood is the hammer: big enough for wearing with a helmet, it can be adjusted well and has an automatic depth adjustment. The screen is semi-solid and can be bent almost arbitrarily and remembers the setting - a really practical thing for helmet and glasses!
About the extremely high collar, I'm still undecided, because he is completely closed, it is very high, to the tip of the nose. On the one hand, in real bad weather, that's great, in principle, so only one slot for the eyes remains free, used in drizzle or as a windbreaker, I feel the collar but then again as disturbing. But, the jacket is designed as a weatherproof jacket, and this job makes her great.
Conclusion
All in all, I can join the review of the magazine Alpin 08/2012: excellent values in terms of moisture management, as the trilogy plays clearly in the league. The criticism with the hood I can not fully understand, subjectively they find well adjustable, albeit somewhat small.
UPDATE: meanwhile the trilogy is no longer produced with Gore-Tex ActiveShell, but with Gore-TexPro.
